【摘要】:Thetotalperceivedcolordifferencebetweentwonon-selfluminousspecimensiscomparedasanequivalentlightnessdifferencebetweentwoneutralgrayspecimensonagrayscale.Afundamentalassumptionismadethatthetotalcolordifferencecanbesoevaluatedintermsofanequivalentlightnessdifference.Onlythetotalcolordifferences,thatis,asummationofthedifferencesinhue,lightness,andchromabetweentwospecimensisevaluated;thistestmethodisnotapplicabletotheseparatepreciseevaluationofthehue,lightness,andchromacomponentsofcolordifference.Thetotalcolordifferencedeterminedbythistestmethoddependsonthedegreeofuniformityofthespecimensandonthesharpnessofthedividinglinebetweenthem.Thecolordifferencebetweenspecimenshavingroughormottledsurfacesappearssmallerthanitwouldifthespecimenshadsmoothanduniformsurfaces.ThustheequivalentCIELABlightnessdifferencedeterminedfornon-uniformspecimenswillbesmallerthanforuniformspecimens.Likewise,specimenswhosedividinglineisnotsharpwillappeartohavesmallercolordifferencesthanthosewithsharpdividinglines,andforthisreason,theequivalentvisuallyobservedCIELABlightnessdifferenceswillbesmallerthanthecolordifferencesobtainedfrominstrumentalmeasurements.5.2.1Aphysicallysharpborderbetweencolorsdifferingslightlyintheyellow-bluedirectionincolorspaceappearsdiffuse.Theperceivedcolordifferenceisnoticeablyincreasedbyahairlineblackseparation.Thistechniqueimposesamorerigoroustestofsuchsmalldifferences.IntheCIELABsystem,aunitofcolordifferenceisintendedtorepresentthesamevisualdifferenceineachofthethreeattributes;lightness,hueandchromaoralternativelylightness,redness-greeness,yellowness-blueness.Itisvalidtoexpresscolordifferencesthatarenotsimplylightnessdifferencesbycomparisontoalightness-differencescale.PersonneltobeemployedintheevaluationofcolordifferenceswiththepairedgrayscaleshouldbetestedforcolorvisionusingtheproceduresinGuideE1499.1.1Thistestmethoddescribesapaintedgrayscaleandtheproceduretobeusedinthevisualevaluationofcolordifferencesofnon-selfluminousmaterialsbycomparisontothisscale.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
